Introducing Tammy Law
Tammy Law is a photographer and documentary maker based in Queensland, Australia.
Permission to Belong, her most recent work, produced in conjunction with Yumi Goto and the Reminders Photography Workshop in Tokyo, is an exquisite and innovative photobook that documents the everyday lives of families from Myanmar who have resettled in countries abroad. Since 2007, Law has exhibited her work regularly across Australia and internationally. Her work was exhibited at the Yangon Photo Festival in 2018 and she was a finalist in numerous awards, including the Momento Pro ANZ Photobook Awards this year, and the Tokyo International Foto Awards in 2017.
Tammy was awarded an Australia Council for the Arts grant in 2017 to establish Fragile Constellations, an online network between photographers from Myanmar and Australia. Law’s works have been widely published, with clients including The Wall Street Journal, Broadsheet, Domain and Australian Traveller. In 2018, Law completed her PhD at RMIT University and currently works as an academic at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University and at the School of Communication and Arts at The University of Queensland.
