Photobook Exploder Workshop
Led by bookmakers and artists Matt Dunne of Tall Poppy Press and Aotearoa’s Solomon Mortimer, this fun and exploratory conversation will unpack how different makers think through the making and creating of their books.
Each artist will bring one or two books they've made and walk the audience through why each part is the way it is. Rather than a dry and formal explanation, this will be a conversation with verve, zest and a lot of enthusiasm.
This 1-hour conversation will include:
- Two artists sharing how they've sequenced and designed a book
- A page-by-page explanation of what they made, why it was that way and if they still like it
- Sharing different approaches to sequencing and design
- Lots of time for audience questions and input
- Books will be shown live, so there will be lots to see and look at too.
Think of this as a deep dive with two friends, pulling back the curtain and gleefully obsessing over how and why.
Bring yourself, your curiosity and a sense of fun.
