Photo Zine Workshop

As part of Photobook/NZ 2026, we’re excited to offer a new iteration of our popular Photo Zine Workshop!

Led by publishers and artists Matt Dunne of Tall Poppy Press, Harry Culy of Bad News Books and Jane Wilcox at Whiti o Rehua School of Art, Massey University, this hands-on workshop covers everything you need to know to enter the world of self-publishing and zine-making.

This 4-hour workshop includes:
-       Viewing a wide range of contemporary photo zines
-       Professional feedback on your work
-       Learning how to sequence photographs to build a compelling visual story
-       Using Adobe InDesign to experiment with layout (no prior experience required)
-       Taking home your own finished zine

It’s also perfect for trying out ideas to develop later into a photobook or photo series and for learning how to make a photo zine!

All you need to bring are your photographs and ideas. Everything else — including computers, software, printers, and materials — will be provided by Massey University.

This workshop is fully booked You can use the form below to request to go on the waitlist.
