Talks and launches
Throughout the bookfair on Saturday 8 August there’ll be a series of 20 minute book launches and talks by artists and publishers with work in the fair. The talks will be adjacent to the bookfair. Take a seat and support Aotearoa’s photobook makers!

Harete Tito is launching Where We Are – a book about her mother and herself and their journey with dementia.

Rim Books
Mary Macpherson is launching one foot on the bottom a photobook about childhood or the space that childhood once occupied. Using family Kodachrome slides from the 1950s and '60s taken by her late mother Evelyn, and her contemporary photographs, the work creates a portrait of family holidays by the beach, lake and river.

Lenses of South American women in Aotearoa
Carolina Prato Casanova presents Wings of the South a two-cover photobook inspired by the endemic birds of Chile and New Zealand, with the purpose of carrying memory, culture, and knowledge to future generations.

Mariela Durnhofer Rubolino is launching Her artwork - a collection of words and images that tell about her personal life experiences as a South American woman in Aotearoa.

PhotoForum
PhotoForum will launch two new books at Photobook NZ by Tāmaki Makaurau artists Paris Munro and Jake Morton. PhotoForum has been a major influence in supporting and publishing photography in Aotearoa New Zealand for over 50 years and runs an annual publishing programme supported by membership subscriptions and selected from an open call. The books published for 2025/26 are A Call Towards Home by Paris Munro (PhotoForum #107) and Constellation by Jake Morton (PhotoForum #108)
